Jay Linday

James T. Lindsay is a composer and organist residing in New Haven, CT. He has a Bachelors of Music from the Hartt School and a Masters of Music from the Peabody Institute in Baltimore, MD. He has studied composition with Stephen Gryc and Nicholas Maw and organ with Larry Allen-Smith and Donald Sutherland. His compositions include pieces for full orchestra, wind ensemble, choir, and various solo instruments and chamber ensembles. His works have been performed and recorded throughout the east coast.
James has served as an organist and music director at churches throughout New York, Maryland and Connecticut. Since 2005, he has served as the music director at St. Augustine's Church in Seymour, CT where he plays the organ and directs the adult and youth choirs. In 2006, he was commissioned to compose a piece for organ and choir to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the church.
James is a board member for the New Haven chapter of the American Guild of Organists. In addition to his work as a music director, James also runs Elm City Music, a piano studio where he teaches about 15 students of all ages and skill levels.
