The 2010 Region I POE is conveniently located in southwestern Connecticut, a little more than an hour from New York City, an hour and a half from Providence, and two hours from Boston.  In addition to ease of access to these three cities, a variety of enjoyable day and overnight trips are possible to locations including Mystic Seaport, Tanglewood, the Berkshires, and others.

All of these possibilities allow POE participants and their families to expand their trip into a vacation before or after the event. Take advantage of special hotel rates available for POE families close to the Sacred Heart University Campus (must be booked before June 1, 2010).

Staying at Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, Connecticut

Participants in the 2010 Region I POE will be housed on the 65-acre campus of Sacred Heart University, one of two private universities located in Fairfield, Connecticut.  Sacred Heart is a 6000-student private Catholic school whose campus includes athletic and dining facilities, as well as wifi throughout the campus.

In 2006, the town of Fairfield was ranked by Money Magazine as the "best place to live" in the Northeast.  The town features an array of beaches on Long Island Sound, a variety of parks, and a 160-acre wildlife sanctuary run by the Audubon Society. Neighboring Bridgeport, the largest city in Connecticut, features a variety of attractions including many performing arts venues, the Barnum Museum, Beardsley Zoo, and Seaside Park, designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, designer of Central Park in New York City.   

The area is easily reached by regular commuter rail service from New York City, as well as by I-95 and the Merritt Parkway.
